About

Arvin was the long-time company and product name of a multi-national company that was headquartered (primarily) in Columbus, Indiana during most of the 20th century.  The company was founded in 1919 as the Indianapolis Air Pump Company by Q. G. Noblitt (a native of Columbus) and Frank Sparks in 1919.  After a few name changes, the company last "existed" as part of ArvinMeritor, Inc. until the Arvin was dropped from the name in 2011.

This site is dedicated to documenting and preserving the memories of the company, its products, and its people.

*** Note (May 16, 2016):  All the photos housed on the www.PreservinArvin.com site are generally low resolution scans that conserve space on the web server and make it easier to manage.  We will be adding a series of pages / entries scattered throughout the site that will offer links to "offsite" albums that contain scans and photos arranged by types of products and models within those products.  We're currently undergoing some proof-of-concept testing and will begin soon.  Our first efforts in this area will be for the 1935-1939 radios sets where we have a great deal of material to share with everyone.  We have literally dozens of images to share for many of these early radio models.  You can see an example here:

   1938 - Model 838AT

We'll also have links to other sorts of albums, such as this one for some early company stock certificates.
