In 1966, Monroeville became the site of the second Arvin plant opened in Alabama.  Monroeville was a pretty quiet little town about halfway between Montgomery and the Alabama Gulf Coast.  It was most famous as the home of Harper Lee and as the setting for To Kill a Mockingbird (later the Gregory Peck movie).  Aside from being the site with a friendly, welcoming workforce, the area also offered Arvin business travelers a chance to dine  on arguably the best fresh shrimp in the country!

Monroeville was established to be the primary manufacturing site for the company's aftermarket pipe (exhaust pipe, tail pipe, etc.) business.  Business conditions in 1981 led to closing of the plant.
